In a note dated May 12, 2025<\/strong>, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security<\/strong> instructed the Government Commissioner<\/strong> at the Court of First Instance of Port-au-Prince<\/strong> to take conservatory measures<\/strong> against individuals sanctioned by the United Nations<\/strong>, including the immediate freezing of all their bank accounts<\/strong>. The note also recommended that specialized institutions<\/strong> and financial oversight bodies<\/strong> investigate the financial activities<\/strong> of those subject to international sanctions<\/strong>. At first glance, this appears to be a selective<\/strong>, partisan<\/strong> measure.<\/p>\n

Indeed, only Barbecue<\/strong>, Izo<\/strong>, Ti Lapli<\/strong>, Lanmo San Jou<\/strong>, Vitel\u2019Homme Innocent<\/strong>, Victor Prophane<\/strong>, and Luckson Elan<\/strong> have been hit by UN sanctions<\/strong>. Other politicians<\/strong> and members of the private sector<\/strong> subject to punitive measures have been targeted by the United States<\/strong> and Canada<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Do the gang leaders<\/strong> sanctioned by the United Nations<\/strong> even have bank accounts<\/strong>? Why impose conservatory measures<\/strong> on criminals<\/strong> who, until now, have proven stronger than even the security forces<\/strong>, while politicians<\/strong> and businessmen<\/strong> remain more or less within reach<\/strong>?<\/p>\n

In any case, the conservatory measures<\/strong> announced by the Ministry of Justice<\/strong> against individuals sanctioned by the UN<\/strong> are purely and simply a bluff<\/strong>, conveniently ignoring the sanctions imposed by the United States and Canada<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
