Garry Didier P\u00e9rez is suffering from kidney failure. Artists and other members of the Haitian music industry have joined forces to come to the rescue of the former Zenglen singer. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The 90s generation certainly knows this charismatic, curly-haired singer. His videos were broadcast on Haitian television. “Anba lat\u00e8”, a black-and-white clip, is one of his most famous, produced by “Videos Plus”. But one of the singer’s greatest hits is the song “Fid\u00e8l” by the Zenglen group, a sort of hymn to life and to Haitian music. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Garry Didier P\u00e9rez leaves his mark on this group, which continues to be a springboard for great talent. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Garry, who emigrated to the United States some thirty years ago, is currently suffering from kidney failure. This chronic illness requires considerable financial resources for medical follow-up. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To help the artist, an initiative has been set up. The aim is to raise funds for the singer. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Clinton Beno\u00eet, former lead singer of the group D’Zine, was contacted by Garry, who asked him to alert other artists to his illness and difficulties. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As a social worker and mental health therapist, <\/span>Beno\u00eet took his musician brother’s appeal to heart. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The doctors are demanding between US$150,000 and US$200,000, while only US$10,000 is available, he tells us. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Artists and die-hard fans of Garry Didier P\u00e9rez are getting involved in the fund-raising campaign. Women’s associations, in particular Fanm kore Fanm, <\/span>producer Zagalo and other members of the diaspora promise to join the movement. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Clinton Beno\u00eet is not alone in this mobilization activity. His staff includes Jean Brutus D\u00e9rissaint, Jean H\u00e9rard Richard dit Richie, Gazman Pierre, Phillipe Saint Louis and others. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
