Live TikTok: Dimitri Vorbe breaks his silence and washes his hands of the assassination of Jovenel Moïse

The assassination of Jovenel Moïse in July 2021 brutally exposed the yawning fractures of a Haitian state wracked by corruption and violence.

In an effort to break the silence on the Moïse affair, Dimitri Vorbe, entrepreneur and head of SOGENER, spoke out on TikTok, during a live chat hosted by Don Kato. This testifies to his desire to be heard by a younger generation, often disillusioned by the traditional narrative of the elites.

Vorbe chose to explain the Petrocaribe embezzlement scandal, his exile in the United States and his “problems” with the late president.

Although he denies any involvement in Moïse’s murder, his call for an international inquiry reflects an urgent need for transparency and justice in a country where impunity seems to be the norm.

On TikTok live, Vorbe called the Haitian private sector a “criminal association” and called on his peers to take responsibility. By dissociating himself from figures like Reginald Boulos, he highlights the differences that exist even among those who benefit from the system.

Vorbe also spoke about the dismissal of the case against SOGENER and the World Bank’s role as supervisor of public contracts.

The attacks by Stanley Lucas, whom Vorbe reduces to actors seeking “buzz”, illustrate the pernicious use of social networks in Haitian public debate.

In a country where rumors and accusations abound, the line between truth and manipulation is becoming blurred, and digital platforms are turning into arenas for settling scores.

Finally, the troubling coincidence between his TikTok video “mango mango mi”, which Vorbe attributes to a simple “conjugal joke”, and the assassination of Moses, was questioned.
Dimitri Vorbe’s statements remind us that behind the shadow of Jovenel Moïse’s assassination lies a complex reality.

Truths must be revealed, responsibilities established, and hope for a better future for Haiti must not be reduced to attacks on social networks. The road to justice is essential if we are to build a dignified future for this battered country.
