In a statement released this Tuesday, August 24, 2021, the Consulate General of Haiti in Santiago invites the student community in the Cibao region to collect their passports with visas. As part of the special program to regulate the migratory status of Haitian students in the Dominican Republic. 100 Haitian students will receive their passports this Wednesday, August 25, 2021.

Since August 7, 2021, Haitian students in the Cibao region have been invited to deposit their passports at the consulate in order to obtain a special student visa. This Wednesday, August 25, 2021, 18 days later, 100 students have been invited to claim their passports. According to the May 03, 2021 agreement between the Haitian and Dominican authorities, these students will not have to worry about obtaining a study visa.

“This batch of passports with visas will be delivered to the students on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, starting at two (2) o’clock in the afternoon,” the press release reads.

The Consulate apologizes to these students for the delays experienced throughout the process, while reiterating its commitment to working in perfect symbiosis with these nationals in search of knowledge.
